Present a negative COVID test in Sweden

All travelers from non-Scandinavian countries must present a negative COVID-19 test at the boarder between Denmark and Sweden. This applies to all foreigners above the age of 18 entering Sweden. The negative test must be taken no more than 48 hours before you cross the border between Denmark and Sweden. 

The test requirement also include travelers who have been vaccinated. 

Excepted from this requirement are travelers under the age of 18 as well as travelers from the Scandinavian countries: Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Finland.  




In order to ensure that you have a good crossing over the Baltic Sea, BORNHOLMSLINJEN has introduced a number of measures to protect both passengers and crews from the current challenge posed by COVID-19.

New corona rules for travelers to and from Bornholm

Show your ferry ticket when traveling through Sweden

From 28 December 2021 a negative covid-19 test is required for all travelers from Denmark to Sweden. The test must be no more than 48 hours old when crossing the border – this also applies even if you are vaccinated.

Exemptions for transit travelers between Ystad and Rønne

However special rules apply for transit travelers, who travels with BORNHOLMSLINJEN between Ystad and Rønne. You don’t need a negative covid-19 test to entering Sweden, if you can document that you are traveling through. Therefore, when you travel through Sweden to get to or from Bornholm, you don’t need to present a negative covid-19 test to entering Sweden, but only your ferry ticket to BORNHOLMSLINJEN as documentation for your transit journey.

Valid documentation:

  • Ferry ticket to BORNHOLMSLINJEN on the day of travel
  • Brobizz or other types of ticket to Øresundbroen

More flexible tickets

You now have six months to change your tickets

Unfortunately, the coronavirus is still among us, and the pandemic is something we need to adapt to. BORNHOLMSLINJEN would like to give you a helping hand in these uncertain times, when it can be difficult to make any plans in advance. 

We are now giving you six months to change your tickets. This also applies to tickets you may already have bought.

This means that you can transfer your ticket to any other crossing with our ferries, and you can change your ticket to a crossing up to six months after your original travel date. The only condition is that you purchase and change your ticket before 12 midnight on 31 March 2022. 

So, you can safely book your trip today, even though your plans may change. You simply need to remember to change your ticket before your planned departure time.

If you transfer your ticket, you will need to pay our standard change fee and any difference in price between the original ticket and the new one. 



Starting November 29, the authorities have made mask wearing mandatory on all public transport. This includes on BORNHOLMSLINJEN ferries.

You will therefore be required to have your own mask or face covering with you and to wear it while you are on the ferry. You must wear your face covering for the duration of the crossing, but may take it off while eating or drinking. You can also buy a face mask on board the ferries.

Crew members working in passenger areas will also wear face coverings. Crew members who are shielded from passengers, for example behind Plexiglas, are exempt from this rule.

The face covering requirement does not apply to children under 12 years of age, to persons with breathing difficulties, impaired consciousness, or those with physical or mental handicaps who are unable to remove the face covering themselves.
