BORNHOLMSLINJEN LIFTS ALL RESTRICTIONS ON ALL TICKETS
What to do if you have booked a crossing on BORNHOLMSLINJEN for between 23 March and 13 April.
Due to the Danish government’s announcement of a further 14 days of restrictions, BORNHOLMSLINJEN is now lifting all restrictions on all tickets for crossings from 23 March up to and including 13 April.
This applies to all routes. Therefore, tickets can be rebooked free of charge to a crossing at any time in 2020.
Tickets with conditions that include an option for a refund of the ticket price can still be refunded. However, other tickets, such as Low-price or Flex tickets, cannot be refunded but can be changed to another crossing later in the year.
As long as the COVID-19 restrictions apply, tickets can be changed several times without change fees.
As usual, if the ticket is changed to a departure which is more expensive than the original, the difference in price must be paid.
Please note that the ticket must be changed prior to the original departure time.
You can change your ticket quickly and easily here.
If the ticket is for a crossing on a date after the period specified above, our standard terms of business apply. You will find further details about these here.
NEW FERRY TIMETABLE
COVID-19 MEANS A NEW FERRY TIMETABLE!
Due to COVID-19, there has been a fall in the demand for the ferry crossing between Rønne and Ystad.
BORNHOLMSLINJEN has received the approval of the Danish Ministry of Transport for a temporary timetable for the route between Rønne and Ystad. This means that, from Monday 23 March until Thursday 2 April, the usual four double crossings will be reduced to two daily double crossings.
The new timetable has the following two double crossings:
Outward from Rønne at 8.30 am and return from Ystad at 10.30 am; outward from Rønne at 4.30 pm and return from Ystad at 18.30 pm.
Over Easter, from 3 April until 13 April, we will also be applying a temporary timetable approved by the Ministry of Transport, with fewer departures than originally planned. You can see all changes to departures under ‘Timetable’.
It was a priority for the agreement that there should be no congestion on the ferry. A passenger count on the ferries showed that there would still be plenty of space on Express 1, which can accommodate up to 1400 passengers, if we combined two crossings.
If your departure has been cancelled, your ticket will automatically be rebooked to another departure. All passengers will receive a text message with more information about their crossing.
If the restrictions are extended over Easter 2020, we will draw up a new timetable, taking into consideration demand and reservations.
Crossings between Rønne and Køge are not affected by this.
CROSSINGS TO AND FROM BORNHOLM
YOU CAN STILL TRAVEL THROUGH SWEDEN
Sweden’s announcement of a border closure does not affect the Ystad-Rønne route because the closure does not apply to EU citizens.
Nor will the closure of Denmark's borders, from 14 March to 13 April, affect this route.
Bornholm is part of Denmark. Therefore, as a Dane, you are welcome to travel through Sweden to and from Bornholm.
However, you should expect to have to wait longer at the border for as long as the Danish border control continues.
Bornholm is connected to the rest of the country via BORNHOLMSLINJEN’s routes from Rønne to Køge and Ystad. If Sweden closes its borders to EU citizens, we will increase the frequency of our crossings to Køge. Therefore, there will still be plenty of options for travel to and from Bornholm.
There are further details on the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website under ‘How does this affect travel to and from Bornholm?’ here (in Danish: ‘Hvad betyder det her for mulighederne for at komme til og fra Bornholm?’).
From Saturday 14 March, the crossing to Sassnitz has been temporarily suspended.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19
BORNHOLMSLINJEN has introduced a number of measures to protect both passengers and crews from the current challenge posed by COVID-19.
BORNHOLMSLINJEN is doing everything it can to protect both passengers and crews in terms of containing the coronavirus infection to ensure that you feel as safe as possible on the crossing.
Our measures include:
- Passengers with special needs will be permitted to stay in their vehicles on the car deck of the ship. (This does not apply to the crossing between Rønne and Køge, or on crossings with Povl Anker between Rønne and Ystad.) If you wish to stay in your car during the crossing, please press ‘Help’ when you check in and arrange this with the staff. If you have not arranged this with the staff at check-in, you will not be permitted to stay in your car.BORNHOLMSLINJEN also strongly encourages everyone to make use of the toilet facilities in the port before embarking. If, contrary to expectation, passengers do need to use the toilet, they should attract the attention of the crew member doing the rounds on the car deck during the crossing. The passenger will then be directed to the nearest toilet.
- No-one may share a cabin with anyone they do not know. This also means that we will not be able to offer a cabin to everyone who wants one on the route between Køge and Rønne. If you have booked a shared cabin, you will be contacted if it is important to you.
- All passengers will be allocated a zone. In addition, every other table on the ferry will be cordoned off to ensure the required distance between passengers.
- There are signs everywhere reminding passengers to observe social distancing.
- Cleaning is an extra high priority for the crews on all crossings.
- In announcements on the ferry, the captain will ask all passengers to keep their distance and take the necessary precautions.
- We would ask all customers to pay by credit or debit card or MobilePay.
- Provianten and BARISTA’s will still be open but there are new precautionary measures. Distance markers have been set up in Provianten and BARISTA’s. Protective Plexiglas screens have also be ordered/set up in front of all check-out desks to protect passengers and crews. All food is sold wrapped or placed behind screens. Crockery and cutlery have been removed from the counter and will be handed out by the staff.
We are, of course, following coronavirus developments closely, and we will take further steps if necessary.
